Johnson Controls China named Top Employer for ninth year
Johnson Controls China was lauded for its excellent talent strategy, career development and culture again.
Johnson Controls China has been named “Top Employer: China" for the ninth consecutive year. Great performance in talent strategy, career development and corporate culture earned Johnson Controls China the coveted spot on the Top Employers Institute’s Top Employers China 2020 list.

Workforce structure
Nearly 80% of Johnson Controls China employees have a bachelor's or higher degree, and more than 80% are between 25 and 45 years old. This is a young and professional team. They are responsible for developing and manufacturing products, providing sales service to customers in the China market, and developing leading products for Johnson Controls in the APAC region and globally. Loyal employees have been integral to growing the business in China over the past 30 years. Nearly 60% of Johnson Controls China employees have been with the company for more than 5 years.
Development system
Johnson Controls has a comprehensive learning and development system to keep employees competitive. This includes:
- An online and offline Excellence in Execution course that 30% of APAC employees have completed in just one year.
- A Channel & Sales Institute, a Service Institute and a Product Institute that ensure the sales service team is well trained.
- Online and offline courses at its China plants and R&D center to strengthen skill sets and create a benchmark for smart manufacturing.
- The innovative Leadership Development Program for intermediate and senior leaders, to groom Chinese leaders with a global outlook.
Corporate culture
The inclusive and diverse corporate culture at Johnson Controls is also an important part of its employer brand-building effort. At Johnson Controls China, close to 30% of employees are female, and nearly one in three leadership positions above manager level are held by women, which is higher than most other companies in this category.
