Johnson Controls Singapore Awarded Zero Waste to Landfill Certification
Johnson Controls Singapore is the first in Asia Pacific to achieve Zero Waste to Landfill certification
Johnson Controls Singapore has been recognized as the first Johnson Controls Field Service location in Asia Pacific to obtain the Zero Waste to Landfill certification, a comprehensive internal global certification program that reflects the company’s commitment to sustainability.
Reduce, reuse, recycle, repurpose and reclaim — a mantra that Johnson Controls Singapore had adhered to since 2020 when the team embarked on a journey to meet the stringent waste management standards of the company’s global sustainability program. Within 18 months, the Singapore office was awarded the Johnson Controls Zero Waste to Landfill certification. The Singapore team is the second after Finland to land the accolade within Johnson Controls worldwide network.
Part of Johnson Controls global sustainability initiative, the Zero Waste to Landfill certification program focuses on waste collection, treatment and disposal in the most environmentally conscious way. The program helps local teams systematically identify their waste streams and assess waste treatment and disposal methodologies.
A successful waste reduction program requires a whole-of-office involvement. For the Singapore team, strong leadership in the environmental program, coupled with consistent advocacy to encourage employee engagement and proactive recycling efforts, are key strategies to drive an effective sustainability program.
Johnson Controls sustainability goals reflect Singapore’s zero waste masterplan announced in 2019. Under the masterplan, the objective is to reduce the amount of waste among three priority waste streams, such as electrical and electronic waste, food waste and packaging waste, including plastics.
