Johnson Controls Guangzhou Plant provides expert support and training for WorldSkills
As students and professionals around the world prepare for the 2021 WorldSkills International competition, Johnson Controls continues its support for the event, which is aimed at raising awareness and the skill level of vocational professions.
At the Guangdong, China provincial trials, the Johnson Controls Guangzhou Plant provided planning and training support for the refrigeration and air conditioning matches. Now that the provincial winners have been selected, Guangzhou plant is training them for the national trials.
Johnson Controls has provided expert technical support to WorldSkills since 2016. That year, Guangzhou also became the training ground for the national WorldSkills delegation in recognition of our commitment to cultivating skilled workers.
The Chinese government has focused on boosting vocational skill development in recent years, prompting more schools to take part in WorldSkills. As a result, the provincial trials have become more competitive.
“We have witnessed tremendous progress,” said Ke Jun, supervisor, front-line training, Guangzhou plant, who has supported WorldSkills for years. “The contestants were able to complete more projects at this year’s trials, and the craftmanship has improved greatly. Very little separates the contestants in terms of competencies, and the fierce competition tells us that the pandemic has not stopped them from honing their skills.”
Ke added that Guangzhou plant’s frontline workers also continue to grow their skill sets while resuming production earlier this year, even as China battles the spread of the coronavirus. As part of China’s New Apprenticeship program to drive talent development and increase the number of skilled technicians, 100 Guangzhou plant field employees completed e-learning training modules via their mobile devices.
